William H. (Hank) Kucheman

Chief Executive Officer

William H. (Hank) Kucheman

Hank Kucheman is Chief Executive Officer for Boston Scientific Corporation and serves on its Board of Directors. He and the Company’s senior management team are focused on leading global markets for less-invasive medical devices by developing and marketing innovative products, services and therapies that address unmet patient needs, provide superior clinical outcomes and demonstrate proven economic value.

Before being named CEO in October 2011, Kucheman was Executive Vice President and President of the Cardiology, Rhythm and Vascular (CRV) Group and was responsible for the Company’s Interventional Cardiology and Cardiac Rhythm Management businesses and its Endovascular Unit, which includes the Peripheral Interventions, Neurovascular, Imaging and Electrophysiology businesses.

He joined the Company in 1995 as a result of Boston Scientific’s acquisition of SCIMED Life Systems, Inc. As Senior Vice President of Marketing for Boston Scientific, Kucheman was responsible for the global marketing functions of the Company’s Cardiovascular group and Corporate Marketing functions. During his tenure, Kucheman oversaw the commercialization strategy for the Company’s TAXUS® paclitaxel-eluting coronary stent system, defined and developed the Boston Scientific Reimbursement and Outcomes Planning functions, and initiated Marketing Science and e-Marketing programs. He was promoted to Senior Vice President and Group President of the Company’s Cardiovascular Group prior to his role in overseeing Boston Scientific’s CRV Group.

Before joining Boston Scientific, Kucheman held a variety of management positions in sales and marketing for SCIMED, Charter Medical Corporation and Control Data Corporation. He began his career at the United States Air Force Academy Hospital and later was Healthcare Planner, Office of the Surgeon General, for the United States Air Force Medical Service.

Kucheman earned a B.S. and M.B.A. from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He has served on several industry boards, including the board of directors of the Global Health Exchange and Advanced Medical Technology Association (“AdvaMed”).


Supratim Bose

Executive Vice President and President, Asia-Pacific

Supratim Bose

Supratim Bose is Executive Vice President and President, Asia-Pacific for Boston Scientific and a member of its Executive Committee. In this role, Supratim oversees the Company’s business and growth opportunities across Asia-Pacific, the world’s fastest growing region.

Before joining Boston Scientific in January 2012, Supratim was Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Singapore-based Bose Consulting Group, which specialized in strategic management consulting services for the healthcare industry. Previously, he worked for nearly 30 years at Johnson & Johnson, where he concluded his tenure as Company Group Chairman of its Medical Devices and Diagnostics (MD&D) business. In this role, he managed Johnson & Johnson’s MD&D companies throughout Asia-Pacific, including Japan, having pioneered its entry in all emerging markets in Asia, including China, India, and Vietnam. During his tenure, he also created the company’s research and development capability in the region and led the development and growth of local talent. Under Supratim’s leadership, the organization partnered closely with key external stakeholders to shape the healthcare environment, and was recognized by external agencies as one of the top companies to work for in Asia-Pacific.

Supratim joined Johnson & Johnson Ltd. India in 1981, and held a variety of management positions of increasing responsibility leading up to his appointment as Company Group Chairman of MD&D. He has extensive and proven experience in building markets in this region. Prior to J&J, he served at one of the top growing pharmaceutical start-ups in India.

Supratim earned a B.S. in Chemistry/Physics, a M.S. in Biophysics and a Master in Management Studies from the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies at the University of Bombay. He served as a a member of the Board of Directors at Quattro Vascular Pte Ltd and Trireme Medical, and member of the Advisory Board at Singapore Management University’s Lee Kong Chian School of Business. He continues to teach at the Nanyang Business School, Singapore, as a visiting faculty member.


Brian R. Burns

Executive Vice President, Global Quality, Medical Safety and Regulatory Affairs

Brian R. Burns

Brian Burns is Executive Vice President, Global Quality, Medical Safety and Regulatory Affairs for Boston Scientific and a member of its Executive Committee. In this role, he is responsible for quality assurance for Boston Scientific’s businesses worldwide and oversees the Company’s Global Regulatory Affairs and Global Medical Safety organizations.

Burns joined Boston Scientific in 2000 as Quality Director at the Company’s Spencer, Indiana facility. He has served as a multi-site Vice President of Quality for the Company’s Cardiovascular Group and as Vice President of Quality Systems for the Company. Burns most recently served as Senior Vice President of Global Quality.

Prior to Boston Scientific, he served in a variety of management positions at Baxter, Cardinal Health and Allegiance Healthcare.

Burns earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Arkansas.


Jeffrey D. Capello

Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Jeffrey D. Capello

Jeff Capello is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Boston Scientific and a member of its Executive Committee. In this role, he is responsible for several Company functions, including Global Controllership, Corporate Finance, Treasury, Corporate Tax, Corporate Analysis and Control, and Information Systems.

Previously, he served as Senior Vice President, Chief Accounting Officer and Corporate Controller responsible for overseeing the Company’s Global Controllership, Treasury and Information Systems functions. Before joining Boston Scientific in 2008, Capello was the Chief Financial Officer with responsibility for Business Development at PerkinElmer, Inc. Prior to his tenure at PerkinElmer, he was a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.

Capello earned a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Vermont and a M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He is a certified public accountant.


Keith D. Dawkins, M.D.

Senior Vice President and Global Chief Medical Officer

Keith D. Dawkins, M.D.

Keith Dawkins, M.D., is Senior Vice President and Global Chief Medical Officer for Boston Scientific and a member of its Executive Committee. In this role, he is responsible for enhancing the Company’s global Clinical programs and strategies.

Prior to his current role, which he assumed in January 2012, Dr. Dawkins was Chief Medical Officer of Boston Scientific’s Cardiology, Rhythm and Vascular Group. He joined Boston Scientific in 2008 as Senior Vice President and Associate Chief Medical Officer for the Company’s Cardiovascular (CV) business. While in this role, he led Boston Scientific’s Clinical Integration Project, which brought together its former CV and Cardiac Rhythm Management Clinical organizations under the Company’s CRV Group.

Prior to joining Boston Scientific, Dr. Dawkins was a practicing interventional cardiologist for more than 20 years in England. He has earned a series of clinical, research and academic distinctions, including a Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship at Stanford University as a Fulbright Scholar. Dr. Dawkins served as President of the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society, and held numerous appointments on hospital, regional and national committees, including the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE). He has been an author on more than 450 academic publications and presentations on a variety of cardiac topics.

Dr. Dawkins earned a First-Class Honours degree in Pathology at London University and Guys Hospital. He trained in cardiology at Oxford and at the Brompton & St. George’s Hospital in London.


Joseph M. Fitzgerald

Senior Vice President and President, Cardiac Rhythm Management Division

Joseph M.  Fitzgerald

Joe Fitzgerald is Senior Vice President and President, Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) Division for Boston Scientific and a member of its Executive Committee. In addition to his CRM responsibilities, Fitzgerald oversees the Company’s structural heart business units.

Prior to his current role, Fitzgerald was President of Boston Scientific’s Endovascular Unit, which included the Company’s Peripheral Interventions, Electrophysiology, Neurovascular and IVUS businesses. Previously, he held a number of senior leadership positions at Boston Scientific, including President of our Electrophysiology business and Vice President of Global Marketing and U.S. Sales for the Company’s Neurovascular business.

Fitzgerald joined Boston Scientific in 1990 as a sales representative and subsequently held a variety of sales leadership positions in the Company’s Peripheral Interventions business, including U.S. Sales and Operations Manager.

He earned a B.S. in Business from Indiana University and a M.B.A. from Southern Illinois University with a concentration in Marketing and Finance.


Jean Fitterer Lance

Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer

Jean Fitterer  Lance

Jean Lance is Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer for Boston Scientific and a member of its Executive Committee. In this role, she oversees the Company’s Global Compliance function, which is committed to maintaining a best-in-class compliance and ethics program across all Boston Scientific business groups and locations, including the Company’s interactions with health care professionals.

Prior to assuming her current role, Lance served as Vice President and General Counsel for the Company’s Cardiovascular Group. Before joining Boston Scientific in 1996, she was General Counsel and Vice President of Human Resources for Red Line Healthcare Corporation. Previously, Lance practiced with the national law firm of Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal in Chicago, Illinois, where she specialized in corporate law with an emphasis in health law.

Lance earned a B.S. in Accounting from Minnesota State University – Mankato. She earned a law degree, with honors, from the University of Minnesota Law School, where she was a member of The University of Minnesota Law Review.

Lance is a member of the Advanced Medical Technology Association’s ("AdvaMed") Code of Ethics Working Group and has been actively engaged in the development of the AdvaMed Code of Ethics on Interactions with health care professionals and the 2008 revisions to the AdvaMed Code of Ethics.


Michael Mahoney

President, Boston Scientific Corporation

Michael  Mahoney

Michael Mahoney is President for Boston Scientific Corporation and a member of its Executive Committee. In this role, he is responsible for the Company’s Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) and Endoscopy (GI and Pulmonary) businesses, as well as certain corporate functions.

Mahoney joined the Company in October 2011, having established a track record of more than 22 years of healthcare experience in building market leading global businesses in medical devices, capital equipment, and healthcare IT service businesses at best-in-class companies.

Prior to joining Boston Scientific, he was Worldwide Chairman of the Medical Devices and Diagnostics (MD&D) division of Johnson & Johnson. MD&D represents the largest medical device business in the industry, with 50,000 employees and seven franchises, including Cordis, DePuy, Ethicon, Endo, Lifescan, Ortho Clinical diagnostics, and Vision Care.

Previously, Mahoney served as Worldwide Group Chairman of Johnson & Johnson’s DePuy franchise, a leading orthopedics and neuro-sciences business consisting of five business units: Orthopedic, Spine, Trauma, Codman, and the Sports Medicine businesses. In this role, he successfully drove a growth strategy via product innovation, multiple acquisitions, and International expansion, particularly in China and India.

Prior to joining Johnson & Johnson, Mahoney served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Global Healthcare Exchange (GHX), a leading provider of supply chain solutions and services that bring together hospitals, manufacturers, distributors and GPOs. He built the company through organic development and strategic acquisitions, successfully integrating seven acquisitions and expanding the business into Europe and Canada.

Mahoney built his early career at General Electric Medical Systems, where he spent 12 years, in a variety of advancing leadership roles for domestic and global businesses in CT, MRI, X-ray, Healthcare IT, and Nuclear Medicine, culminating in the role of General Manager of the Healthcare Information Technology business.

Mahoney earned a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Iowa and a M.B.A. from Wake Forest University.


Maulik Nanavaty

Senior Vice President and President, Neuromodulation Division

Maulik Nanavaty

Maulik Nanavaty is Senior Vice President and President, Neuromodulation Division for Boston Scientific and a member of its Executive Committee. In this role, he is responsible for the innovation leader in less-invasive microelectronic implantable technologies used to treat chronic neuropathic pain.

Prior to his current role, Nanavaty was President of Boston Scientific Japan. Previously, he was Vice President and General Manager of the Company’s Interventional Cardiology business in Japan. During his tenure, Nanavaty managed the successful launch of the Company’s TAXUS® Express2™ drug-eluting stent system in that country. He joined Boston Scientific in 2005 as Vice President for Corporate Strategy for Japan, where he transformed the business and increased operational efficiency.

Prior to joining Boston Scientific, Nanavaty spent 16 years working in various executive positions at Baxter International, Inc., and Baxter Japan.

Nanavaty earned a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Illinois and a M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.


Lawrence R. Neumann

Senior Vice President and President, Emerging Markets

Lawrence R.  Neumann

Larry Neumann, Senior Vice President and President, Emerging Markets, develops and implements Boston Scientific’s commercial strategies in rapidly growing countries around the world.

Most recently, Larry served as Senior Vice President of Boston Scientific’s Restructuring and Integration Office. He joined the Company in 1996, holding positions of increasing responsibility in Tax, Finance, Business Development and Investor Relations. Prior to joining Boston Scientific, he held various management positions at General Electric Medical Systems, Arthur Anderson & Company and Aardvark/McGraw-Hill.

Larry holds a B.A. in Business Administration and Accounting from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire and is a Certified Public Accountant.


J. Michael Onuscheck

Senior Vice President and President, EMEA

J. Michael Onuscheck

Michael Onuscheck is Senior Vice President and President, EMEA for Boston Scientific and a member of its Executive Committee. In this role, he is responsible for Boston Scientific’s businesses in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Prior to his current role, Onuscheck was Senior Vice President and President, Boston Scientific’s Neuromodulation Division, where he was responsible for research and development, manufacturing, marketing, sales, clinical research and customer service. Previously, he was Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Boston Scientific’s Pain Management business. In this role, he led the commercial launch of the Precision™ Spinal Cord Stimulation System for intractable pain, and helped create the Company’s spinal cord stimulation business. Onuscheck has also led the field sales and clinical organization, marketing and communications function, field clinical engineering team, technical support team, and training and education department.

He joined the Company in 2004 with Boston Scientific’s acquisition of Advanced Bionics, where he had been serving as Vice President of Sales and Clinical Services in the Company’s Auditory business.

Prior to joining Boston Scientific, Onuscheck held a variety of management positions at Medtronic in spinal reconstructive surgery and stereotactic image guided surgery. Before that, he worked for Pfizer, where he held various sales and marketing positions.

Onuscheck earned a B.A. in Business Administration and Psychology from Washington and Jefferson College.


John B. Pedersen

Senior Vice President and President of the Urology and Women's Health Division

John B. Pedersen

John Pedersen is Senior Vice President and President, Urology and Women’s Health Division for Boston Scientific and a member of its Executive Committee. In this role, he develops and executes strategies for Boston Scientific’s Urology and Women’s Health business.

Prior to assuming his current role, Pedersen was President of the Company’s Urology and Gynecology business. Previously, he was President of the Company’s Peripheral Interventions and Neurovascular businesses. Pedersen joined the Company in 1996 as Director of New Business Development.

Before joining Boston Scientific, Pedersen was a Senior Engagement Manager for McKinsey & Company.

He earned a B.A. from Princeton University, completed coursework at Thomas Jefferson Medical College and earned a M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.


Michael P. Phalen

Executive Vice President and President, MedSurg

Michael P.  Phalen

Mike Phalen is Executive Vice President and President, Medical Surgery (MedSurg) for Boston Scientific and a member of its Executive Committee. In this role, he plans and executes Boston Scientific’s growth strategies for the Company’s Urology/Women’s Health and Neuromodulation businesses, Global Sales Operations and e-Marketing function. Phalen also oversees Boston Scientific operations in Canada and Latin America.

Prior to assuming his current position in January 2012, Phalen was Executive Vice President and President, International. In that role, he was responsible for planning and executing Boston Scientific’s international growth strategy focusing on key emerging markets. He joined Boston Scientific in 1988 and held various management positions of increasing responsibility within Endoscopy, including Territory Manager, Product Manager, Regional Sales Manager, Group Product Manager, Director of Marketing, Vice President of Global Endoscopy Marketing and Vice President and Business Unit Manager for Endoscopic Surgery, and Senior Vice President and President of the Company’s Endoscopy Division.

Before joining Boston Scientific, Phalen held management positions with MD Technology, Kendall Healthcare and Pennwalt Pharmaceuticals.

He earned a B.S. in General Science from Villanova University and a M.B.A. from Fairleigh Dickinson University.


David A. Pierce

Senior Vice President and President, Endoscopy Division

David A. Pierce

Dave Pierce is Senior Vice President and President, Endoscopy Division for Boston Scientific and a member of its Executive Committee. In this role, he develops and executes strategies for the Endoscopy business.

Prior to his current role, he was Endoscopy Vice President of Global Marketing, managing product marketing, communications and programs, market development, new business development and customer education. Pierce joined the Company in 1991 as a Territory Manager before assuming various management-level positions of increasing responsibility.

Before joining Boston Scientific, Pierce worked as a Senior Sales Representative for Airborne Express and served as a Captain in the United States Army.

Pierce earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Norwich University and a M.B.A. from Boston University.


Timothy A. Pratt

Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer, General Counsel and Secretary

Timothy A. Pratt

Tim Pratt is Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer, General Counsel and Secretary for Boston Scientific and a member of its Executive Committee. In this role, he is responsible for worldwide management of Boston Scientific’s Legal functions, Global Regulatory Affairs, Global Quality, Government Affairs, Human Resources, Health Economics and Reimbursement, and Corporate Communications.

Prior to joining Boston Scientific in 2008, Pratt was a partner and trial attorney with the law firm of Shook, Hardy & Bacon. Previously, he was law clerk to Judge Floyd R. Gibson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.

Pratt earned his B.A. at Tarkio College and graduated Order of the Coif from Drake University Law School, where he served as editor-in-chief of the Drake Law Review.

Pratt is a member of the Board of Directors for the Advanced Medical Technology Association ("AdvaMed"), where he also serves on the Executive Committee. AdvaMed advocates for a legal, regulatory and economic environment that advances global health care. He is also a Director on the Board for the New England Legal Foundation, a not-for-profit public interest organization whose mission is promoting public discourse on the proper role of free enterprise in our society and in the courtroom and is a member of the Association of Corporate Counsel and the General Counsel Roundtable. Pratt is also active in the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, where he serves on the Board and Executive Committee.

Previously, he was named a Leading National Products Liability Lawyer by Chambers USA, one of the Top 500 Litigators in America by Lawdragon, and one of the Best Lawyers in America.


Kenneth J. Pucel

Executive Vice President, Global Operations and Technology

Kenneth J. Pucel

Ken Pucel is Executive Vice President, Global Operations and Technology for Boston Scientific and a member of its Executive Committee. In this role, he directs the Company’s manufacturing, distribution and supply chain operations and manages Corporate Research and Development (R&D) and the R&D product development processes.

Pucel joined Boston Scientific in 1989 and has held various positions of increasing responsibility, including Manufacturing Engineer, Process Development Engineer, Operations Manager, Production Manager and Director of Operations. He has also worked as Vice President of Operations, Multi-Site Vice President of Operations, Senior Vice President of Operations and Executive Vice President of Global Operations.

Pucel earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, with a concentration in Biomedical Engineering, from the University of Minnesota.


Otha T. “Skip” Spriggs, III

Senior Vice President, Human Resources

Otha T. “Skip” Spriggs, III

Skip Spriggs is Senior Vice President, Human Resources for Boston Scientific and a member of its Executive Committee. In this role, he is responsible for Human Resources services to all Boston Scientific businesses and functions, as well as corporate recruiting, compensation, benefits, policies, training and leadership development.

Spriggs brings more than 25 years of Human Resources experience to Boston Scientific, holding leadership roles with Catalent Pharma Solutions, CIGNA Corporation, Home Depot, Levi Strauss & Company and United Parcel Service.

He earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Towson State University.

Spriggs has served as the Chairman of the Board for the Urban League of Philadelphia, and served on the boards of numerous community and charitable organizations. In 2008, Savoy Magazine named him one of the top 100 most influential African-Americans in corporate America.
