Ray Elliott is President and Chief Executive Officer for Boston Scientific.
Ray joined the Company in 2009 and brings more than 35 years of experience leading health care and consumer products companies. He led the orthopedics company Zimmer Holdings Inc. for 10 years, joining as President and rising to become Chairman, President and CEO. Prior to joining Zimmer, Ray served as President and CEO of Cybex International Inc., a medical rehabilitation and cardiovascular products company. He has also served as President and Chairman of various divisions of Southam Inc., a communications group, and as Group President of the food and beverage company John Labatt Ltd.
He began his career in the health care industry with American Hospital Supply Corp. – now Baxter International Inc. – where he served for 15 years in sales, marketing, operations, business development and general management positions, leading to his appointment as President of all Far East divisions, based in Tokyo. He has also served on a number of boards, including Boston Scientific's.
During his leadership of Zimmer, sales and market capitalization quadrupled. Sales increased from approximately $1 billion in 1997 to approximately $4 billion in 2007. Ray oversaw taking Zimmer public in 2001, with an initial market capitalization of approximately $5 billion. At the time of his departure in 2007, the company’s market capitalization was more than $20 billion. In 2005 he was named "Best CEO in America" for Health Care (Medical Supplies and Devices), by Institutional Investor magazine.
He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Western Ontario, Canada.
Brian Burns is Senior Vice President of Global Quality for Boston Scientific.
He is responsible for worldwide operations, distribution, design and clinical quality assurance for all Boston Scientific businesses and acquisition partnerships. He also acts as Company liaison to all compliance bodies, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, European Union Competent Authorities and the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.
Brian joined the Company in 2000 as Quality Director and most recently was Vice President of Quality. Prior to joining Boston Scientific, Brian was General Manager at Allegiance Healthcare. He began his career at Baxter Healthcare.
He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering with a Minor in Mathematics and Chemistry from the University of Arkansas.
Jeff Capello is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Boston Scientific.
Previously, he served as Senior Vice President, Chief Accounting Officer and Corporate Controller responsible for overseeing the Company's Global Controllership, Treasury and Information Systems functions. Before joining Boston Scientific in 2008, Jeff was the Chief Financial Officer with responsibility for Business Development at PerkinElmer, Inc. Prior to his tenure at PerkinElmer, he was a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
Jeff holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Vermont and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He is a certified public accountant.
Joe Fitzgerald is Senior Vice President and President of the Endovascular Unit for Boston Scientific. The Endovascular Unit encompasses Peripheral Interventions, Neurovascular, Imaging and Electrophysiology.
Prior to his current role, Joe was President and General Manager of the Company's Peripheral Interventions business. Previously, he was President of Boston Scientific's Electrophysiology business. After joining the Company in 1990 as a sales representative, Joe held a variety of management positions in Boston Scientific's Neurovascular and Peripheral Interventions businesses. These included numerous regional and divisional sales management assignments up to and including his roles as Vice President, Global Marketing and Vice President of U.S. Sales for the Neurovascular business.
Prior to joining Boston Scientific, Joe was with Anheuser Busch, Inc., where he held a variety of sales, marketing and training assignments.
Joe holds a B.S. in Business from Indiana University and an M.B.A. from Southern Illinois with a concentration in Marketing and Finance.
Hank Kucheman is Executive Vice President and President of the Cardiology, Rhythm and Vascular Group for Boston Scientific.
In this role, Hank is responsible for the Company's Interventional Cardiology and Cardiac Rhythm Management businesses and its Endovascular Unit, which includes the Peripheral Interventions, Neurovascular, Imaging and Electrophysiology businesses. Previously, he was Senior Vice President and Group President of the Company's Cardiovascular Group. Hank joined the Company in 1995 as a result of our acquisition of SCIMED Life Systems, Inc. He was ultimately promoted to Senior Vice President of Marketing for Boston Scientific. In this role, he was responsible for the global marketing functions of the Company's Cardiovascular group and all Corporate Marketing functions. He oversaw the commercialization strategy for the Company's TAXUS® paclitaxel-eluting coronary stent system, defined and developed the Boston Scientific Reimbursement and Outcomes Planning functions, and initiated Marketing Science and e-Marketing programs. Prior to that, Hank was Vice President, Corporate Marketing and Vice President, Strategic Marketing for the Company.
Before joining Boston Scientific, Hank held a variety of management positions in sales and marketing for SCIMED, Charter Medical Corporation and Control Data Corporation. He began his career at the United States Air Force Academy Hospital and later was Healthcare Planner, Office of the Surgeon General, for the United States Air Force Medical Service.
Hank has served on several industry boards, including the board of directors of the Global Health Exchange and Advanced Medical Technology Association ("AdvaMed"). He holds a B.S. and an M.B.A. from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
Jean Lance is Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer for Boston Scientific.
In her role, Jean oversees the Company's Global Compliance function, which is committed to maintaining a best-in-class compliance and ethics program across all Boston Scientific business groups and locations, including the Company's interactions with health care professionals. Prior to becoming Boston Scientific's Chief Compliance Officer, Jean served as Vice President and General Counsel for the Company’s Cardiovascular Group.
Before joining Boston Scientific in 1996, Jean was General Counsel and Vice President of Human Resources for Red Line Healthcare Corporation. Previously, she practiced with the national law firm of Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal in Chicago, Illinois, where she specialized in corporate law with an emphasis in health law.
Jean is a member of the Advanced Medical Technology Association’s ("AdvaMed") Code of Ethics Working Group and has been actively engaged in the development of the AdvaMed Code of Ethics on Interactions with health care professionals and the 2008 revisions to the AdvaMed Code of Ethics.
Jean received her B.S. in Accounting from Minnesota State University – Mankato. She received her law degree, with honors, from the University of Minnesota Law School, where she was a member of The University of Minnesota Law Review.
Sam Leno is Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer for Boston Scientific.
Sam joined the Company in 2007 and oversees Finance, Information Systems, Manufacturing and Operations. Previously, Sam served as Executive Vice President of Finance and Information Systems and Chief Financial Officer. Before joining Boston Scientific, he was Executive Vice President, Finance and Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer for Zimmer Holdings, Inc., with responsibilities for Finance, Human Resources, Manufacturing, Distribution, Operations, Information Systems and Business Development. Prior to Zimmer, he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Arrow Electronics. Previously, he held a number of chief financial officer and other finance positions with several public companies. Prior to his business career, he served as a U.S. Naval Officer.
Sam holds a B.S. in Accounting from Northern Illinois University and an M.B.A. from Roosevelt University.
Steve Moreci is Senior Vice President of Global Sales Operations for Boston Scientific.
Prior to his current role, Steve was Senior Vice President and President of Boston Scientific's Endosurgery Group, where he was responsible for the Company's Endoscopy and Urology/Gynecology businesses. He joined Boston Scientific in 1989 as Vice President and General Manager for the Cardiac Assist business and subsequently held a series of senior management positions with increasing responsibility.
Prior to joining Boston Scientific, Steve enjoyed a 13-year career in medical devices, including nine years with Johnson & Johnson, where he held a variety of sales and marketing positions. From 1985 to his joining Boston Scientific, Steve was Vice President of Sales and Marketing for DermaCare, a small medical device firm that supplied finished goods and components to a variety of multi-national medical device firms including Zimmer and Baxter.
He holds a B.S. in Marketing from Pennsylvania State University.
Michael Onuscheck is Senior Vice President and President of the Neuromodulation Division for Boston Scientific.
Michael joined the Company in 2004 with Boston Scientific's acquisition of Advanced Bionics as the Vice President of Sales and Clinical Services in the Company's Auditory business. Most recently he was Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Boston Scientific's Pain Management business. In this role, he led the commercial launch of the Precision™ Spinal Cord Stimulation System for intractable pain, and helped launch the spinal cord stimulation business at Boston Scientific. During his tenure, Michael led the field sales and clinical organization, marketing and communications function, field clinical engineering team, technical support team, and training and education department.
Previously, Michael held a variety of management positions at Medtronic in spinal reconstructive surgery and stereotactic image guided surgery. Prior to Medtronic, he worked for Pfizer, where he held a variety of sales and marketing assignments.
Michael holds a B.A. in Business Administration Psychology from Washington and Jefferson College.
John Pedersen is Senior Vice President and President of the Urology and Women’s Health Division for Boston Scientific.
Prior to assuming his current role, John was President of the Company's Urology and Gynecology business. Previously, John was President of the Company's Peripheral Interventions and Neurovascular businesses. He joined the Company in 1996 as Director of New Business Development.
Before joining Boston Scientific, John was a Senior Engagement Manager for McKinsey & Company.
John holds a B.A. from Princeton University, completed coursework at Thomas Jefferson Medical College and earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
Mike Phalen is Senior Vice President and President of the Endoscopy Division for Boston Scientific.
Previously, Mike was President of the Company's Endoscopy business. He joined the Company in 1988 and has held a variety of management positions with increasing responsibility.
Prior to becoming President of the Endoscopy business, he was Vice President, Business Unit Manager for Endoscopic Surgery and Vice President of Global Marketing for Endoscopy. Prior to these appointments, Mike held positions as Director of Marketing, Group Product Manager, Regional Sales Manager, Product Manager and Territory Manager.
Before joining the Company, he held management positions with MD Technology, Kendall Healthcare and Pennwalt Pharmaceuticals.
Mike holds a B.S. in General Science from Villanova University and an M.B.A. from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Tim joined the Company in 2008 and is responsible for worldwide management of Boston Scientific’s Legal functions. He also has responsibility for Global Regulatory Affairs, Global Quality, Government Affairs, Human Resources and Corporate Communications for the Company.
Tim is a member of the Board of Directors for the Advanced Medical Technology Association ("AdvaMed"), where he also serves on the Executive Committee. AdvaMed advocates for a legal, regulatory and economic environment that advances global health care. He is also a Director on the Board for the New England Legal Foundation, a not-for-profit public interest organization whose mission is promoting public discourse on the proper role of free enterprise in our society and in the courtroom. Tim is a member of the Association of Corporate Counsel and the General Counsel Roundtable. He is also active in the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, where he serves on the Board and Executive Committee.
Prior to joining Boston Scientific, Tim was a partner and trial attorney with the law firm of Shook, Hardy & Bacon. While there, he was named a Leading National Products Liability Lawyer by Chambers USA, one of the Top 500 Litigators in America by Lawdragon, and one of the Best Lawyers in America.
Tim received his Bachelor of Arts degree at Tarkio College and graduated Order of the Coif from Drake University Law School, where he served as editor-in-chief of the Drake Law Review. After graduating, he was law clerk to Judge Floyd R. Gibson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
Ken Pucel is Executive Vice President of Global Operations for Boston Scientific.
In this role, he is responsible for the Company’s manufacturing facilities and supply chain operations.
Ken joined Boston Scientific in 1989 and has held various positions in the Company's Cardiovascular Group, including Manufacturing Engineer, Process Development Engineer, Operations Manager, Production Manager and Director of Operations. He also served as Vice President of Operations for the Company's Maple Grove, Minnesota facility and as the Company's Senior Vice President of Operations.
Ken holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Biomedical Engineering from the University of Minnesota.
