Initial PEG Placement

During an initial PEG (percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy) placement, a feeding tube is placed through the abdominal wall into the stomach to allow for nutrition to be given to the patient. A PEG placement may be used in patients that have difficulty swallowing or cannot consume nutrition by mouth.

PEG Options

Nutrition plays an important role in your patients’ quality of life. Boston Scientific manufactures a line of PEGs used for providing nutrition into the stomach based on the patient’s needs and physician preference. The Safety PEG, Standard PEG, and Low Profile PEG are indicated for providing nutrition directly into the stomach in patients who are unable to consume nutrition by conventional means. The safety components in the Safety Kit are designed to reduce the potential for inadvertent sharps injury to medical personnel during and after the procedure.
