Gynecological Conditions
Traditional surgical treatments for menorrhagia (heavy menstrual bleeding) or uterine fibroids (benign, non-cancerous tumors) are often considered invasive and risky. Boston Scientific has developed products designed to support minimally-invasive treatments for each of these conditions that, for some patients, will offer an alternative to surgery. Endometrial ablation is an outpatient treatment for menorrhagia in which some or all of the lining of the uterus is removed. Uterine fibroid embolization is a treatment for uterine fibroids, typically performed by injecting embolizing (blocking) particles into the uterine artery, causing the fibroid to shrink or subside.
